Physical Examinations
Parent permission forms, as well as a physical examination performed by a doctor and completed on the specified IHSAA form, are required for participation in basketball, cheerleading, and dance team. The examination must be dated after April 1, 2018 for next school year.  Cheer Try-outs  Try-outs will be in May. Any 3rd or 4th grader who plans to try-out for cheerleader should plan to get a physical after April 1st. Make physical appointments now for April 1st or a date immediately following the 1st. Permission slips and information will be sent home with interested girls by mid-April.

Cheerleader Clinic & Try-Outs   
Clinics will be held in May at Bedford Middle School. Students must have a physical on file in the office. The physical must to be dated April 1, 2018 or after.

3rd Grade AG Day
3rd grade students will be going to the 4-H Fairgrounds to attend this annual event on Wednesday, April 18th.  The bus will leave at 11:30 and return at 2:30. They will have lunch before they leave.

April 20 & 27 we will be in session and the last day of school will be May 29th.

Award Night at BNL is April 26th!

“The Spirit of Needmore Scholarship”. The winner was a member of the 2011 5th grade class. This is an annual award given to a former Needmore student. Students in our graduating class this year will be eligible for the award in 2025.

Rolling Book Reports
The event will be held on April 24th. We will begin the parade at 2:05 in the gymnasium. Bring your report by 8:30 a.m.   Awards will be given around 2:10. Fliers with specific dimension guidelines will be sent home in April. This is a Needmore annual event. Your child can start to think about the book they want to read.   Start thinking about ideas for this mini display/float.

OMS Orientation
The 5th grade students will be visiting Oolitic Middle School May 16. This will be a day trip by bus. The bus will leave at 8:45am and return at 10:45am.

Progress Reports  
Progress Reports for the fourth grading period will be sent home on or about Thursday, April 20th

ISTEP testing for students in grades 3-5 will take place the week of April 16h – May 4th. Please be sure your child gets plenty of rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and is in attendance during these days. Please encourage your child to take his/her time on the test, double check his/her work, and to try his/her personal best.

Student Transfer Requests  
Remember - parents who wish to transfer children from one school district to another within the N.L.C.S. district must make written application by May 15th each year. Please check your address with district boundaries.   Forms are available in the school office.   Transfer requests must be submitted each year by all families that do not reside in our district.   The principal must report any family that registers at Needmore from another district without a transfer on file.   You will be notified in August of transfer approval or denial. When the enrollment numbers for a particular grade or class exceeds the maximum number given below for the respective grade or class, the transfer request cannot be approved.
Note: Bus Transportation is not provided for transfer students.

Food Service Office
The Food Service Office would like to remind all households that breakfast is offered to students daily at all North Lawrence Community schools. The full price for the student breakfast is $1.25, and .30 cents if the student qualifies for reduced meals.


Rabies Clinic
April 26th from 7pm-8pm @ Needmore

Kindergarten Screening will be April 13th . Please give this date to others in our district. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug 1, 2018 are eligible to attend screening. Parents should call the school (279-2192) to schedule a screening time and discuss items that need to be turned in to our office. Please be prepared to present your child's Birth Certificate, immunization record, and custody papers (if applicable). Transfers from other schools can not be granted unless we have less than 18 students in each sessions of Kindergarten.
